The Most Popular Room in Florida? A Designer Pool Deck!

Florida, once famed for sweet, juicy oranges.
Our Sunshine State has one enviable asset that few other states can even dream of;
Year round warmth and sunshine!

With so much to do in Central Florida, even the toughest of golfers and theme park fans succumb to the need to slow down, relax and laze around in the sparkling clear waters of the refreshing pool.
Pool Designs have evolved at lightning pace here in Central Florida thanks to the growing awareness that outdoor fun needn’t be something to sweat about!

While we proudly showcase one of our most recently completed vacation rental pool homes within Reunion Resort, near Walt Disney World, we thought we’d share some cool tips on what makes a perfect luxury custom home pool design!

  • Keep the pool size in proportion to your yard space and home to avoid overwhelming the home or the yard.
  • Leave enough paved space around the pool for pool furniture and sun beds.  Think about a typical family gathering by the pool to help you decide what’s enough space, then double it for friends and relatives too!
  • Pool shapes are fun to create, but rectangular is the most cost effective and can really look classy with the right detailing.
  • Pick the right color coating to keep things upbeat!  Dark surfaces can create a ‘murky and uninviting effect’.  Blue works well, and the lighter the color, helps you spot any water maintenance issues before its too late.
  • Simple running water makes the pool come to life.  Beware of excessively tall fountains and deep cascades.
    Soothing sounds are great but crashing waterfalls will be most unpopular when you want to drift off in the shade for an afternoon nap!
  • Sun shelves are a nice upcoming tend, offering a a place to rest your sun bed in the shallows.  Perfect for those that like the idea of being in the pool without the ‘wet!’
  • Little seats and ‘caves’ built into the pool sides are relatively inexpensive to create, but add tons of appeal for youngsters to play in.
  • LED lights have added a lot of interest to poolside evenings.  You can choose any cool you like to suit the evening mood, or slowly vary lights automatically throughout the night!
    The longer lasting LED lamps also reduce maintenance costs!
  • ‘Beach entry’ or ‘zero entry’ shallow ends, create a nice safe and predictable spot for younger kids to play.
  • Infinity edge pools were originally designed for sea front homes, to create a seamless view that joins the ocean and pool water.
    Although popular for inland pools, the effect is kind of lost, and the metal edges can reduce access around the pool.
  • Often overlooked, pool bathrooms can be invaluable.
    Kids need towels, toilet visits and showers, making the slippery indoor flooring a safety hazard if they are constantly dashing in and out of the main home!
  • Hot Tubs – Originally created for ‘cold climates’, hot tubs have even caught on in Florida!
    Great places to hang out if the temperatures drop a little, or kids want to warm up a little in between the sun and pool.
  • Fire pits are great for those topping up the degrees during those lovely Floridian winters.
    Gas units are great, but add a zip timer to the system to prevent burning gas all night!
  • General Pool Safety – Always follow the pool safety rules in your state and never leave children unsupervised for even the most briefest of moments.

The lovely smell of fresh paint.
Sun beating down over a brand new, pristine luxury pool.
It all looks so calm.
Until that is, the furniture arrives!

With the precision of a marching band, the strength of a special forces unit and the creativity of an award winning design team, Masterpiece Interiors and the McNally construction team, combine forces with Reunion Resort’s finest contract specialists to create the most beautiful 12 bedroom golf view mansion yet.
In just 2 days, McNally’s 14,000 square foot, 12 bedroom, 17 bathroom house was transformed into an ‘owner ready’ dream home!

All of our combined efforts required 3 moving trucks, 10 movers, 3 furniture assemblers, 2 drape installers, 1 artwork installer, 2 glass top and mirror fabricators, the lead interior designer and 3 of her staff.
Controlled chaos… McNally style!

The final result is truly breathtaking and we are looking forward to the professional photoshoot (coming soon, after the owners have enjoyed their first ever stay in this stunning Reunion Resort custom mansion!)

Renewable Energy Will Finally Make Progress (Some Decade Soon!)

The pressure on energy consumption has never been so great and the outlook clearly shows that consumption must be supplied from renewables.
Homeowners are receptive to the concept of ‘free’ energy, but the capital costs, and emerging technologies aren’t favorable just yet.
Two important factors will ‘push’ renewables; need & affordability.
Fuel is still very cheap right now, even though supplies of fossil fuels are tough to extract.

With over 60% of the average yearly daytime delivering solar energy, the Sunshine State boldly wears its nickname with pride.
But according to NOAA statistics, Arizona and California really max out with around 90% available sunshine.
We can expect those states to rely more on solar as their AC units demand more energy during warmer and warmer yearly average trends.

But will solar ever be attractive?
The aesthetics of solar panels has left a lot to be desired over the years and many signature communities have strict controls that prevent many of the conventional systems from being used.
As the image below indicates, the solar winds of change are a coming!
Tesla are on the right path if they can produce solar roof tiles in the required volumes, with assured quality and the right price.
Many doubt they will, but their CEO has the drive to make the extraordinary happen!
